Chelsea: Amy's mother hasn't changed at all!

Emmerdale's Amy Wyatt is in for a bit of a shock this week when she has an unexpected encounter with her estranged mother Kerry. Actress Chelsea Halfpenny, who plays Amy, tells Soaplife magazine how's Amy's 'knocked out' when she comes face to face with her long-lost mum.

What happens when Amy and Victoria go out into town for a birthday drink?
They're in a bar and a guy bumps into Amy. They have a bit of flirty banter, and they're kind of leaving Victoria out - so she goes off to text Alex. Amy makes a move to kiss this guy, and suddenly a woman appears and flies at Amy!

Bet she wasn't expecting that! So who is this person?!
Well, as the woman is hitting Amy and saying, "What are you doing?" to the guy, Amy recognises her voice - it's her mother, Kerry!

What a shocker! So the penny drops for Amy first?
Yes. Because Kerry hasn't seen Amy since she was about 7 of 8 and she's changed a lot since then, but her mum hasn't changed at all! She's the kind of person who dresses and acts 10 years younger than she is.

Once the dust has settled Kerry wants to give Amy her number so they can get to know each other again. What does Amy think?
Amy's not at all keen at first. She thinks her mum has always been everything that she wished she wasn't, so why on earth would she want to keep in touch with her? But at the last minute, she does decide to take the phone number from her. She's always thinking about what could have been.

So, do you think Amy will call Kerry? Can mother and daughter finally be reunited?
There are going to be so many bridges to cross, because so much has happened way back in the past. Kerry's definitely going to have to change a lot if she wants a chance to work things out. And, of course, Amy loves Val and Pollard now and sees them as her mum and dad. So who knows?

What would Kerry do if she turned up in the village looking for Amy?
Probably get blind drunk and snog some of the local men.

What would you like Amy to do next in this storyline?
I'm looking forward to exploring her emotional side a bit more. She puts on this tough front, and the only time I've seen her vulnerable side was when she had the baby and she was talking to him. But I think there's a lot more to her!
