Declan Macey (Jason Merrells)

Declan Macey

Declan - knows exactly what he wants and how to get it!

Declan arrived as friend of Jai and Nikhil Sharma and soon found himself the victim of a honey trap set by Charity Tate. Charity unfortunately didn't know who she was dealing with and Declan got the upper hand.

After giving the Sharma brothers some advice about Home Farm, Declan buys a share himself from Natasha Wylde, and soon the business partners begin an affair much to Natasha's son Nathan's dismay.

But when the Wylde family went into meltdown, Declan found himself a victim of the fallout and sided with the accused Ryan Lamb. With Natasha in prison, Declan seized the opportunity to buy the rest of the shares in Home Farm with the help of his ex-wife Ella.

What Declan hadn't banked on is Ella and his daughter Mia making themselves at home too. Then to add to his troubles, his dad arrived!

Jason Merrells

Jason Merrells first major tv role was in 1994 in Casualty, playing receptionist Matt Hawley for three years until 1997.

He also had roles in The Bill, Queer As Folk and Clocking Off before landing the part he is probably best known for - that of hairstylist Gavin Ferraday in BBC drama Cutting It (2002-2005).

Since setting down his scissors, Jason has played the part of headmaster Jack Rimmer in Waterloo Road and James Dowland in Lark Rise To Candleford.

From August-October 2007, Jason performed with the Royal Shakespeare company at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon playing the role of Orsino in Twelfth Night.

His brother Simon Merrells (Conrad Williams in Family Affairs) played the part of Antonio. Jason and Simon then went on tour with the RSC performing A Comedy of Errors until December 2007.

Jason's wife Zerlina is also in the industry - she works in lighting. They met when when he was in a play at the theatre she worked in. Jason has three children, daughters Camilla and Gina from his first marriage, and a son with Zerlina - called Jackson.
