David Metcalfe

David - a good bloke...most of the time!

David arrived late 2006 and immediately turned the ladies' heads. He came to find his biological father, Eric Pollard. Eric had left David's mother before he was born and had stolen £20,000 from her.

Eventually father and son were reunited and it soon became clear that David was a chip off the old block with his business ventures and dodgy deals.

David also made his way round the women in the village, flirting and enjoying brief flings with Delilah Dingle, Katie, Jasmine and Nicola De Sousa before settling down with Leyla Harding and becoming a Councillor...although he's not quite sure what he does and neither are we!

Matthew Wolfenden

Matthew Wolfenden was a gymnast in the British gymnastics squad until he damaged his back in a fall when practising on the rings. He turned to acting when his injury meant he could no longer continue in gymnastics.

Matthew was in "Hollyoaks:Let Loose" before he got the role as David Metcalfe; he originally auditioned for the part of Eli Dingle but lost out to Joseph Gilgun.

Like his Emmerdale co-star Lucy Pargeter (Chas Dingle), he took part in singing contest Soapstar Superstar, although he was in the second series of the show.

Matthew and his partner Charley Webb, who plays Debbie Dingle in Emmerdale, have a son together, born in April 2010.

He is also a keen triathlete and competes in charity events with Tom Lister and Lyndon Ogbourne.
